Izmir clock tower - Clock Tower, one of the symbolic names of places worth seeing in Izmir, was built upon the request of Grand Vizier Mehmet Said Pasha. It was built in memory of the 25th anniversary of Abdulhamid's ascension to the throne.
The architect of the tower is also the architect who built the building of the German consulate. The clock in the tower is the German Emperor II. Donated by Wilhelm.
This clock, which has not stopped since the tower was built in 1901, still works today.
