Information on Covid-19 vaccines - In this article we have compiled information for you on the currently most discussed Covid-19 vaccines.

What is Covid-19?

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. Most people who become infected with COVID-19 will show mild to moderate symptoms and recover without requiring special treatment. (World Health Organization)

The novel coronavirus, which is often transmitted via the respiratory tract, shows the main symptoms;

  • High fever
  • Muscle and joint pain
  • To cough
  • A headache
  • Diarrhea
  • Loss of taste and smell.

The novel coronavirus that emerged in Wuhan, China in the final months of 2019 has spread around the world and became a pandemic from 2020 that reached large masses and resulted in multiple deaths. As a result, a new era, an epidemic crisis, has officially arisen in the world. Countries, governments and non-governmental organizations have started vaccination studies together to slow this epidemic and break the chain.

Features of Covid-19 vaccines?

As we mentioned at the beginning of our article, with the runaway Covid-19 pandemic, vaccine studies have accelerated in 2020. It is not only possible to permanently remove coronavirus from our everyday lives with a vaccine, because the vaccine is only currently more active to reduce the number of diseases and break the chain.

Accordingly, there are many types of vaccines made using different technologies or genetics. All of these vaccines have one purpose: to learn how to deal with this virus and destroy it by introducing the COVID-19 virus in an amount that will not harm the body. In short, we can say that the purpose of Covid-19 vaccines is to introduce the coronavirus into the body's immune system.

What are the types of Covid-19 vaccines?

Today, with the advancement of technology and genetics, many different vaccine development phase studies against the COVID-19 virus have been completed and emergency response approved. But how high is the protection of which vaccines? Which vaccine protects for how long? Such questions are not fully answered. The vaccines that have been developed today and have begun approval for use in an emergency are as follows:

1. Inactivated Vaccine: Inactivated vaccines are vaccines that are injected into the human body with the aim of harmlessly introducing it into the immune system after the current virus has been produced in a habitat and its destructive and reproductive capabilities are destroyed. The Sinovac vaccine, the world's first type of vaccine, is manufactured and further developed by China.

2. mRNA vaccines: Inactivated vaccines are a method that has been used against many different diseases in Turkey and around the world for years. In contrast, mRNA vaccines are very successful in immunization and antibody production, which are genetically obtained in a shorter time. However, since this is a new technology, it can leave a question mark in people's mind. Developed in the USA, Pfizer / BionTech Vaccine and Moderna Vaccine are manufactured using this technology.
