Antalya Breaks Record in Home Sales to Foreigners!

Antalya is the most popular holiday city for foreign tourists in Turkey and also one of the preferred cities for foreigners to live in. Mahir Şükür, real estate appraiser at LikyaHomes, explained that the sector, which suffered losses in home sales to foreigners last year, grew to record levels in 2021, like many regions during the pandemic.

Home sales to foreigners rose 12.1 percent year-on-year to 5,893 units, according to October data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Apartments sold to foreigners accounted for 4.3% of the total housing sales.

Istanbul ranks first in foreign home sales with 2464 properties sold. Antalya followed with 1,385 home sales, up 30% in the city's first ten months and up 33% in October.

In the 10 months between January and October, home sales in Turkey to foreigners increased by 38% to 43,372. While Istanbul ranks first in Turkey with 20,247 inhabitants, Antalya with 8,640 inhabitants maintains its second place with an increase of 30%. Ankara, Bursa, Izmir, Muğla, Sakarya, Trabzon and Yalova were the other provinces where foreigners bought the most apartments.
