Sightseeing Lviv Ukraine

Let's take a look at the must sightseeing of Liviv Ukraine. Are you ready that Lviv will impress you with its aesthetic pleasure in every way, from art to architecture, from local flair to traces of its deep culture? The city, which offers you a travel experience that will satisfy you in every way, attracts attention in every way with its economy and visa-free travel.

Rynok Square

The list of must-see attractions in Lviv Ukraine starts with Rynok Square, where the heart of the city beats. Rynok Square, which means “marketplace” in our language, has the town hall and the clock tower, as in many European cities. This square is a suitable place to sit and socialize in the surrounding cafes.

First of all, there are many souvenir shops. In the square where you can hear the happy sounds of the street musicians there are fountains with an aesthetic appearance with statues of Apollo, Neptune, Adonis, Diana and Amphitrite. If you look closely at the buildings in this square, you will find that there are no more than three windows on each floor.

Vysoky Zamok - High Castle

The High Castle, which can be reached in about half an hour on foot from Rynok Square, is located in Vysoki Zamok Park. When you climb the castle, which is 500 meters above sea level, you have a panoramic view of the city in all its splendor. The high fortress, which in the past was one of the places where the residents of the region sought refuge, fell against the Kazakhs, Ottomans and Swedish troops. The castle, which fell into ruin after these defeats, was not restored.

Lviv Opera House

One of the most important points of the city, the Lviv Opera House, stands out with its architectural details and is also very important with the exhibitions shown here. This structure, in which architectural influences from the Renaissance and Baroque can be seen, was erected in 1897 by draining a swampy area on the banks of the Poltwa River. We encourage you to take a look at this impressive building, one of the most magnificent structures in the city, whose posture is linked to art and aesthetics, and even buy a ticket to the demonstration to experience its unique acoustic properties.

Tarasa Shevchenko Boulevard

There is unusual traffic on Tarasa Shevchenko Boulevard, which you can walk from one end to the other in about a quarter of an hour; There is traffic on both sides, but the middle part is surrounded by trees and is very suitable for a break between the promenade. The architectural elements of the buildings around Tarasa Shevchenko Boulevard are remarkable. Here you can shop, relax in restaurants and cafes.

Stryisky Park

It is time to share the most romantic place in Lviv with you. Imagine a pond where swans sway in all their purity and willow twigs sway on the bank. The world famous poet Tarasa Shevchenko was the first to plant willow in this park, which is rich in pastures. Spring water flows from the fountain in the park, but it is highly recommended not to drink this water, if you go there you should definitely consider it.

Ivan Franko Park

Ivan Franko Park is one of the most popular parks in Lviv and is an ideal place for a mini picnic while you explore the city. This beautiful area, the oldest park in Ukraine, was founded about 400 years ago. If you are coming to the city in spring or summer, we recommend you to visit this park.

Lviv Ethnographic Museum, arts and crafts

One of the most interesting museums in the city, the Ethnographic Museum, Lviv Crafts, is located on Miskevych Square in the former building of the Galician Savings Bank. We think the sculptures and motifs on the outside of the building that make the building incredibly interesting will grab your attention.

Particular attention should be paid to the museum's ceiling, marble columns, windows, stairs and all the architectural details, which are of high quality craftsmanship. It consists of 3 floors and is the most extensive museum in the city. The items on display are jewelry, table decorations, stained glass, furniture, clothing, posters and various decorative items that symbolize the life of Soviet culture.

St. George's Cathedral

According to many travelers, the cathedral is the most impressive. St. George's Cathedral, in all its beauty since 1760, is located on a ridge on the west side of the city. It can be said that the building, which is one of the most beautiful combinations of Baroque and Rococo architectural styles, has an impressive atmosphere.

Dominican cathedral

The Dominican Cathedral, one of the oldest cathedrals in the city, will impress you with its exterior and interior design. Unfortunately, the church part of the cathedral, which the then Ukrainian prince Lev Danylovyh built for his wife Princess Konstanz of Hungary, survived several fires in the 13th century and was unusable for a long time. However, it was rebuilt in 1749-1761. Some Lviv dungeons are also located under the cathedral.

Potocki Palace

One of the places we think you will enjoy in Lviv is Potocki Palace. This building, which is the meeting point of history, art and architecture, is a palace built in Lviv for Potockis, one of the leading families of its time. A large family art collection can be seen today.

As you enter this palace, a 15th century statue of the Virgin Mary is greeted in all its glory and you will also see a decoration that reflects the characteristic structure of the palace. On the second floor of the palace is the European Art Museum, which is attached to the Lviv Art Gallery. Here is your chance to stumble upon one of the best collections of continental art.
